We Are Helping New Moms.

  • Bringing a new baby home is exciting and can also be challenging for some whether it is your first time or not. This stage of life is about adjusting to a new schedule of everyday life regardless of how many children you have. In some cultures “baby blues” is almost nonexistent because the care and support new mothers receive differ from our western culture. In the western culture, new mothers are discharged from hospital within 24 to 48 hours of giving birth vaginally and 3 to 4 days after caesarean (c-section). The healthcare system does not take into account the support or lack of support new mothers have at home.

  • Some new mothers are expected to entertain family and friends shortly after giving birth. We believe the care of new mothers should be as equally important as that of a newborn. Some elements for better mental health for a new mother at this vulnerable time are;

    Rest: Allowing new mothers time to sleep when baby is sleeping and time to bond. Resting also includes relieving new mothers of their normal responsibilities such as caring for older children and maintaining household duties.

    Support: This has been referred to as “mothering the mother” when experienced mothers take the task of mentoring the new mother.

Some consults are covered by healthcare insurance. Contact us to find out if you are covered..
  • Social recognition: Although as a society we understand the major changes a female body undergoes to create life, we sometimes forget the amount of strength and resilience it takes to give birth to a baby. After the birth, attention is mostly focused on the baby than on the mother’s well-being.

    Rapid Action Health's main focus is to support new mothers throughout this transitional period by providing home care services, support and counselling as long as needed by the family. We recognize that postpartum mental illness may not be avoided however with proper care it can be managed if not prevented. The health of a family  as a unit is dependent on each member of that family’s need being met. Healthy mothers + healthy babies = healthy families.

Shweta is an absolute godsend! I don’t live in Alberta, but required acute and long-term services for my family member. Shweta traveled to rural Alberta to meet us, introduce herself and make a plan. She didn’t require us to sign a contract and wasn’t pushy at all, which was a relief!

She has obvious compassion and empathy for her clients and she is extremely knowledgeable.

Great service!! My family and I met with Shweta, Do u know that they make house calls. My family went through a traumatic event and needed to decompress.

My hubby and I learned  great tools to become stronger parents.It was even more wonderful to have this service in the comfort of our home.

I feel very comfortable with my discussions during my session with Rapid Action Nurses. I am always provided with many techniques to try and I leave my session with some very knowledgeable information and feeling good about the session.

I always look forward to knowing I have an upcoming appointment, sometimes knowing just that helps me get through until the next session. They are doing great things and helping many!

Great service. I was able to get the help I needed in order to move forward. The therapist or psychologist I met was helpful, understanding and friendly.

I would recommend this to someone who wants to do a video counselling instead of one on one in person.
