Need Help With Diet & Nutrition?

  • We all know how malnutrition impacts our physical health but what about our mental health. It is common knowledge how poor diet in children and adolescents results in poor physical and mental health. So if it can have such detrimental effects on the younger generations then it is worth pondering its effects on the adult brain. Our brain does not have an off button, it is constantly working even when we are asleep. Like a car it needs constant supply of fuel to keep going. For our brain to function optimally it needs high quality foods, containing lots of nutrients such as antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

  • Food has a direct impact not only on our brain structure and functioning but also on our mood. Similarly like a car the brain can be damaged when a low premium fuel is ingested such as refined foods. Diets high in refined carbohydrates are harmful as they promote inflammation and oxidative stress. It also worsens the symptoms of mood disorder like depression. Serotonin is a chemical released by the brain which helps regulate sleep, appetite, mood and also known to slow down pain. Serotonin is produced by billions of “good” bacteria which plays a role in maintaining health. They protect against toxins, “bad” bacteria and more. What has come to light is that diets high in vegetables, fruits, seafood and shellfish and unprocessed grains with a modest amount of meat and dairy products protects against inflammation, improves moods and energy as well as influences the “good” bacteria in the body.

Some consults are covered by healthcare insurance. Contact us to find out if you are covered..
  • For example, poor nutrition can lead to obesity among other socioeconomic factors as well as causing mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Despite the complex link between mental health and obesity, a study in 2010 found a strong correlation between depression and obesity. In this study they found overtime people struggling with obesity had a 55% increased chance of developing depression while someone with depression had a 58% chance of becoming obese. With a healthy diet change you can feel so much better emotionally and physically. This will not only improve your mood but can also boost your self esteem, confidence and help you gain a more positive image of yourself.

Shweta is an absolute godsend! I don’t live in Alberta, but required acute and long-term services for my family member. Shweta traveled to rural Alberta to meet us, introduce herself and make a plan. She didn’t require us to sign a contract and wasn’t pushy at all, which was a relief!

She has obvious compassion and empathy for her clients and she is extremely knowledgeable.

Great service!! My family and I met with Shweta, Do u know that they make house calls. My family went through a traumatic event and needed to decompress.

My hubby and I learned  great tools to become stronger parents. It was even more wonderful to have this service in the comfort of our home.

I feel very comfortable with my discussions during my session with Rapid Action Nurses. I am always provided with many techniques to try and I leave my session with some very knowledgeable information and feeling good about the session.

I always look forward to knowing I have an upcoming appointment, sometimes knowing just that helps me get through until the next session. They are doing great things and helping many!

Great service. I was able to get the help I needed in order to move forward. The therapist or psychologist I met was helpful, understanding and friendly.

I would recommend this to someone who wants to do a video counselling instead of one on one in person.
